Claire Wonder

Claire has found her inner Stevie Wonder!

Bear and Q

Claire has become quite the chatter box. She will repeat everything that I say. Sometimes it does not even sound like a word at all but she tries. She can now recognize and say 23 of the 26 letters of the alphabet. For some reason F, G, and J are hard for her to get. She also confuses V with U. Can you blame her? They look very similar to me. She will call out letters wherever we are if she sees them. For instance, on signs, shirts, groceries. She likes to try and count. When counting she says 3,4,5 and 8,9,10. The rest of the numbers are irrelevant to her I guess. She calls every color blue except for yellow and she actually gets that one right...but she pronounces it yewoh. Adorable! I try to correct how she says things but it is just so darn cute to hear her say it wrong. Claire has finally stopped sleeping by the door. Probably because I now leave the door open! She will stay in bed and usually sings herself to sleep. I am not sure if she just wants to be able to hear us or maybe she was afraid of the dark or even felt trapped...but whatever reason leaving the door open has worked! I am praying it continues.

Quinn is now saying MAMA!!! She said it the afternoon after I posted that the only word she knew was dada. (Little stinker!) She is quite the squealer and she is quite talkative herself. She is crawling all over the place now. I will leave the room and when I turn around there she is following me. I love that she is crawling but now I have to go back to making sure the floors are picked up and that I remember to plug back in the safety outlet covers after I iron. Honestly though, it is cute to watch her go. She crawls more with her feet than she does her knees, it's pretty funny. They will be moving her up in Sunday School to the creepers class. It makes me a little sad because I know she is growing up. I guess I finally need to realize that is what babies do...they grow up.

Claire and Quinn have been able to play now that Quinn has mastered sitting and crawling. Sometimes Claire does not want Quinn in her space or playing with her toy but for the most part they have a good time. I look forward to lots of playing and lots of girly giggles!!

Marble Painting

Claire and I did a fun art project the other day. We painted with marbles! It was so much fun and Claire had a blast. I got the idea from someone else...I really wish I was this creative. The final product went to Grammie Lieser and Grandma Riley. Here is a look at how we did it.

Taped paper (card-stock or poster board would have worked better) cutouts to the bottom of a box.

Spooned marbles covered in paint into the boxes. This was Claire's favorite part!

Shake, shake, shake!!!!

The Final Product
Warning: If you try this project with a toddler be prepared to chase wet painted marbles across your floor. ;)

On the move

Sweet Quinn is on the move! She has officially started crawling. She is very particular when she uses this special skill she has learned. If she feels like she can reach something she wants with the tummy scoot she will do that instead. I think once she realizes how much faster and how much more ground she can cover by crawling she will soon use that as her main mode of transportation.

She can go from tummy to sitting now. It is so weird how all of the sudden she just knew how to do it. I am beginning to think she practices all of these things in her crib at night when I am not watching.

Her first word, and only word that she knows, is dada! It is so exciting to hear her say it. I may have posted that we were not sure if she has been saying it but Claire has made it clear to us that she is saying dada. When Quinn says it Claire gets super excited, points at Quinn, and screams DADA!!! It is like she is proud of her and she is wanting to let us know about it. I try to tell Jared that since she is saying dada all the time that must mean she is asking for him to change her diaper. So far that logic has not worked with Jared.

Quinn has started in with separation anxiety from me. I can rarely leave the room without her breaking down into tears. It breaks my heart every time. Jared has decided I can never leave him alone with the girls because Quinn cries most of the time I am gone and even his silly antics won't work on her. One day she will think her daddy is the best, like Claire does now, but for now it is all about mama.

She has three teeth now. The bottom right has come in and the one on the left should come in soon. I am afraid that when she smiles it will look lopsided because she has more teeth on the right side. I know I am silly but hopefully the other one will come in soon!

We have now tried all of the baby food available in the size 2 jars. She is not a fan of pears, sweet peas, or peaches. Her favorite is carrots and bananas. It takes her forever to eat...she likes to take her time and enjoy every spoon full. I understand her wanting to take her time but I am used to Claire inhaling her food within minutes. This leisure eating is going to take some getting used to.

Watching Quinn learn all of these new things lately is bitter sweet. I love that she is learning and growing but I don't want her to grow up too fast. Oh how I wish I could freeze time.
