Quinny Q

Little Miss Quinn is growing right before my eyes. She is 5 1/2 months old. She is such a good baby and quite the smiler. She will smile at anyone! It is the biggest, light up the room and brighten your day, kind of smile. I absolutely love it. She is Jared's mini me for sure. It freaks me out a little how much she looks like him. He of course thinks it is great and says she is good lookin and so darn cute. She is continuing to find her voice and likes to talk and squeal quite a bit. Her and Claire have literal squealing contests. One will squeal then they laugh then the other will squeal. It is quite cute and sometimes ear piercing. We have been practicing sitting up on her own. She doesn't have it down just yet. She tries but always seems to end up slumping forward, which Claire thinks is pretty funny. We started her on rice cereal a couple of weeks ago and she could care less about it. She was not and has not been quite as excited as Claire was. I think she probably spits out about 98% of it. We will be waiting to start on baby food, I want to make sure she gets this swallowing thing down first. We had to cut her hair, just the top, because it looked like a plane could land on the top of her head, she had a nice landing strip. Her hair now seems so much lighter. I still try to put bows in her hair everyday so that she will wear them when she is older unlike her sister. I will let you know how that works out for me. She officially has two teeth! The bottom front two are in and she has discovered them with her tongue. I am convinced she is still teething and that there are more coming soon. The drool and the chewing on anything has not let up one bit since the appearance of those two. At this point that is all to report on little miss. We will have her sixth month well check coming up in a few weeks. I am sure I will probably post her stats.
Here are more than a few pictures of Quinn from the last couple of weeks as well.
First time bowling.
In her tie-dye that we did at Grammie and Grandpa's.
Right before the first haircut! I think she liked the mohawk.
Cutting...had no clue what I was doing.
I think she may have been disappointed with the end result. :)
Happy girl!
All smiles!
Laying on the blanket that Billie, a co-worker of Jared's, made her.
Sleeping with daddy.
Very first bit of Rice cereal! Yummmmm!!!
"Seriously, you're going to make me eat this stuff?"
"I'm done! Please no more!"
"Glad that's over."
Jared's mini me.
Showing off our new teeth! (barely in this picture)

Claire Bear Boo

It has been awhile since the last time I have blogged. The girls have done quite a bit in such a short time. This blog will be for Claire and I will write another one for Quinn.
Claire is still very independent and at 21 months she is acting more and more like a big girl everyday. Claire has had a couple of temper tantrums and I must say they are good and dramatic. Oscar worthy! An example of one she threw was because she wanted to wear her swimsuit...I wasn't going to give in because I had said no. Ummmm, 20 minutes later -after plenty of crying, screaming, and rolling on the floor- she was wearing her swimsuit and sitting on the couch quite proud of herself. (see picture below) She also likes to wear Jared or my t-shirts all day. I don't even bother telling her no and I put them on her. She does look pretty cute in them. Claire is still falling asleep by the door to her room at nap and bedtime. She usually has a hand sticking out from under the door. Jared is still pushing her out of the way of the door and carrying her to bed every night. I am not sure when this stage is going to end, but I am ready for it to. She has a couple more words that she now says and she will try to repeat what I say. Do not worry though...her favorite word is still no. It is so adorable when she says it though. I am told that at some point it switches and it will not be as adorable when she says that to me. Hopefully that will be a long way off. (yeah right) We have been practicing our ABC's. She can point out and tell you the letters A, B, E, I, O, T, P, and M. She likes watching Wheel of Fortune with us (I feel old just saying that!) and she repeats letters that are called. She likes the letter E!!!!! the best. We sing the song and she tries to sing along. She loves to sing and dance. There are times she will start singing and look at me like join in anytime here mom. We sing a lot in this house. She loves to be outside and is not afraid of getting dirty. It has been too hot this summer (100+) so unfortunately there has not been much outside activity. We will be ready for the fall. Claire is a very good girl and she is so loving and so caring, we love our independent cutie!
Here are more than a few pictures of Claire from the past couple of weeks.

Making Daddy Proud

Quinn is discovering the different sounds she can make. Jared is quite proud of her "bathroom" or tooting noises. Quinn is pretty proud of herself too. She has been a drool monster (check out the front of her outfit!) for a long time and now it looks like it may continue if she really gets into blowing bubbles and making noises. What a cute little monster! Plus, she has 2 bottom front teeth to show for all that drooling!

Playdate

Alex and Claire

Today was our very first playdate! We went to the Jang's home to play with Desiree, Alex, and Jaycen. I have to admit I was very nervous going on my, I mean our, first playdate. I did not know what to expect or what the etiquette was. Do I bring anything, how long should I stay, what if Claire is awful, what if they don't like us???????????? All of these things were running through my head as I was driving over. Thankfully Desiree was a very good hostess and made it easy on me. Claire and Alex (2 years) kind of looked at each other at first. I think Alex was like "Just so you know this is my house." Claire of course looked at him like "I do not care." I was surprised that Claire was a little aggressive at first. I had never seen that side of Claire, she had chalk and he wasn't getting it back, so she pushed him. Alex did such a good job of sharing his toys, especially Thomas the train, and was such a sweet boy. They ended up warming up to each other and by the end they were running around the couch laughing and throwing a ball. I truly think they had a good time. It took some getting used to each other at first but it was fun. Sweet baby Jaycen (1 month) slept almost the entire time. I did get to hold him before I left and he is so sweet and so little. Quinn was, as usual, a good baby and laid on the floor and played and then took a nap herself. Desiree and I had a great time talking and getting to know each other better. She said that playdates are mainly for the moms, and I agree. I had such a good time on my playdate...I can't wait to play again.

Growing baby Quinn

Today was Quinn's 4 month check up. I am not sure if doctors are trained to make you feel like you have the best baby in the world or if they truly mean it but today I was a very proud mommy. The doctor said that she was very impressed with Quinn's ability to hold her head up, her social skills, and her gross motor skills. (not sure if that is how you say/spell that) She weighs 14lbs 4oz (63%) and is 25 1/2 in tall. (89%) She still has a little head, it is only in the 22nd percentile. Quinn was quite the show off, she smiled and talked to the doctor through out the exam. Once it was time for her shots she changed her tune...and it was a very loud tune! She is now ready to start on rice cereal. The doctor said it is up to me as to when we will start. When I think about feeding Claire and Quinn at the same time it overwhelms me...so that may wait a few more weeks. I will let you know how that goes.

Quinn is still being very talkative and likes to lay in her bed when she wakes up and talk. I love hearing her, it is so cute and actually I enjoy waking up to it in the morning. When she wakes up crying...well I can do without that. :) She has been putting whatever she can grab into her mouth, including her toes. She has been grabbing her feet for about a week and yesterday she realized that they reached her mouth. I don't quite understand the appeal but it sure is cute.
