Thankful Saturday

Last year I started do a Thankful Thursday post for the month of November. I am already behind this year...hence thankful Saturday.
I am so thankful for my husband, Jared. He has waited on me hand and foot since yesterday after getting my wisdom teeth pulled. He has been making sure I take my medicine on time and that I rinse my mouth out when I am supposed to. He even gets the salt water ready for me!
He made sure the girls let me sleep in this morning. He has taken care of the girls and has been playing outside with them most of the afternoon. He will admit that if anything ever happens to me that the girls will be dressed like him because he doesn't know what to do with them. For instance today they went out in jeans, a t-shirt, and a ball cap over their unbrushed hair. It made me laugh and it makes me love him even more!
He has made my lunch and has picked up for me. I have to admit it is hard to let him do things for me when I am so used to doing things for him and the girls. Who am I kidding...too bad I don't have any more wisdom teeth that need removing because I could get used to this! Don't tell Jared I said that.
Seriously, I am blessed that he is mine and I am so thankful for him everyday not just today.

Love of my Life

On June 4th, 2004 my best friend took me on a road trip for the evening to run an errand for his dad. This was not an unusual thing for him to do for his dad so I willingly rode along. As we were talking he brings to my attention the name of the town we were about to head into in. The city limit sign said Welcome to Amber and then below it was a handmade sign that said Will You Marry Me. As he was pulling over to the side of the rode I was trying to wrap my head around what was happening. Jared gets out of the truck and opens my door to let me out. Once I am out of the truck he gets down on one knee and right there in the ditch in Amber, Oklahoma he proposes.

On October 16th, 2004 I said I do to my very best friend and the love of my life. It has been 8 years (tomorrow) and I love him more now then I did on that day. I would have never thought that could happen because as I walked down that isle I thought my heart would explode with joy and love for him.

He is the man God has intended for me and I have no doubts about that. It has been quite the journey  and I look forward to continuing it with him for as long as we live.

(these are pictures of pictures)

By the way, that is my daddy behind us. He officiated the wedding! So special!

A little gardening

The girls planted sunflower seeds and grass seeds in a small cup at VBS. It was amazing how quickly they sprouted. The girls wanted to plant them in bigger pots so they picked the color pots they wanted and Jared helped them re-plant them. It has been so hot that they are barely surviving. The girls like to check on them every day and see how they are doing. I hope we get one bloom out of at least one of them.

Father's Day

This year we celebrated Jared on the Saturday before Father's Day. We had presents and went out to eat at a restaurant of his choosing. He picked Cracker Barrel...not my top pick ever but it was not my day! :) The girls and I are so blessed to have such a wonderful man in our life. We are very thankful.

On Father's Day we went to my parents house for a surprise lunch for my dad. I am so lucky to have such a godly man as my daddy and I am truly proud to be his daughter.

I am grateful for the two men in my life that I couldn't do without.

Happy Father's Day, Jared and daddy!

Here are some practice shots in manual...with my favorite subjects to photograph. I don't have photoshop and am not sure how to "fix" photos yet so these are the real deal untouched. NO judgement please, I am learning. :)

Quinn's Daddy Daughter Date

This past Saturday Quinn got to go on her first daddy/daughter date to IHOP. Jared has taken Claire a few times and the last time he did Quinn was heartbroken because she didn't get to go.

She was so excited to go this time. I wish I could explain her excitement. Jared said he offered to get her chocolate chip pancakes but she just wanted regular ones with pink and blue syrup. (Strawberry and blueberry) Jared said she ate all of her bacon and most of his, can you blame her?  She had fun coloring while waiting for their food. Now when we pass by IHOP both girls talk about the pancakes and daddy.

Daddy's little helpers.

The girls were super excited when Jared said they could help him wash the car. They started out playing in the hose and filling up their Push Pop caps with water and even putting their push pops under the water. Eventually they got to work. They were washing right along side of Jared. Quinn then proceeded to make a mud puddle in the grass and then turn the hose on herself to get all wet. Fun day in the sun!

I want to be like daddy!

Last weekend Jared mowed the lawn and we played outside while he did. Jared had an old bubble blower lawnmower toy that he had as a kid. Claire decided she was going to help Jared mow. She followed him around the entire time he mowed. It was the cutest thing. Quinn didn't have a mower so she used one of her push toys and followed daddy as well.

The big 3-0!

Jared turned 30 on the 27th of February. It's nice to finally have him join me in the thirties! The girls were so excited to buy him a gift so I let them pick it out. Claire got him a small Chuggington toy train and Quinn picked out a Matchbox car. They were so excited about it they told him that night that his present was a car and a train before he even opened them. Jared was more than happy to play with them, especially since it was playing with cars and trains. I had been asking the girls why they love daddy and what he does to show him he loves them a couple of days before his birthday. I collected 30 of the things they said and typed them up for Jared and put them in a cute little jar. Some things were so sweet and some were funny and some made no sense at all. Here are a couple of things they said:
He let's us help him make his lunch.
I love daddy all the time.
 You play rocket with us.
Reads my book.
When we all go to church to our classes I miss him.
He gives me a hug when he goes to work.
When you love me with my back pack.
Gives us chocolate.
Daddy is silly.
Love you for a celebration.
Horse and donkey. (This was Quinn talking about a Dora show)

He also got a basket filled with candy that was popular 30 years ago. That has been fun to enjoy with him. The best part was eating his ice cream cake that he asks for every year. The girls don't think it's a party unless there is cake. It was a good day!
I am so glad he has finally turned 30, it really helps me to not feel so old.

It melted and shifted on the way home.

Singing Happy Birthday!

Helping blow out the candles.
