Thankful Thursday

 Today I am thankful for my family. I am thankful for my parents, brothers and sister, grandparents,aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, in-laws, husband and daughters. The Lord has given me a wonderful family and a wonderful second family with the Liesers. I am thankful that the Lord placed Jared and I in christian families and that we were able to grow up knowing that Jesus loves us and the importance of having a relationship with him. I am thankful that God brought Jared and my families together and that the girls will be brought up as we were.  I am so thankful the girls will grow up knowing how important family and the love of a family is.

I am thankful for sisters. I am thankful for my sister and know that if I ever needed anything she would be there for me. Claire and Quinn love each other so much and they are such good friends. They take care of one another and will look out for the other. I am thankful for their friendship and their love towards one another even this young. I am thankful that they are sisters and that they will always have each other.

I am thankful for friends. I must admit I don't have many but the ones I do have I truly treasure. I especially cherish the ones that have lasted over the years and even though we only talk once a year I know that nothing has changed and that we could pick up where we left off. I am thankful for godly friends that give me godly advice and  encouragement. Amazing!

Family Movie Night

This last Friday we had our first Family Movie Night. We were all getting over having the stomach bug so it was nice to lay around and relax. The girls were excited because we had blankets and pillows and POPCORN! I will give you one guess as to what our very first movie choice was...Cinderella, of course!  

                                                                               

Oklahoma Earthquakes 2011

On November 5th at 2:12 am the girls slept through their first ever earthquake in Tulsa, OK. It was registered at a 4.7. It woke Jared, the dog, and I up...Jared told me it was probably a very strong wind and we went back to sleep only to hear the next morning it was a quake. We had no idea since we had never been through an earthquake. Tonight, still November 5th, at 10:53 p.m. the girls slept through their second earthquake. (after shock?) Jared and I were awake for this one that registered at 5.6. The after shocks have been going on all day we just couldn't feel them. I have to admit I was a little freaked out by the last one. It lasted a minute or so which felt like forever and I wasn't sure what to do. Who knew that we would experience this in Oklahoma. Girls you will never remember it but it's true.

Thankful Thursday

As I write this I am getting over being sick with a horrible stomach bug so I am first off thankful for Jared.  He didn't go to work yesterday or this morning to take care of the girls and myself. I know I couldn't have made it without him. I honestly don't know how single moms or moms that have  husbands that can't get off work do it. Claire was also sick yesterday and he took really good care of her. He cleaned the house and made all the meals. He even went to the store to buy me sprite. I have it good I tell you. The best part is that the girls saw their daddy taking care of me and loving me.I am thankful that he is there for me for better or for worse and that he is a good example to our girls.

Happy Halloween!

This year for Halloween Claire was Tinkerbell and Quinn was a kangaroo. Claire was beyond excited to be Tinkerbell and has talked about it for a week. I was afraid Quinn was not going to be too keen on being a kangaroo only because she wants to do what Claire does. I was expecting her to say she wanted to be a princess or Tinkerbell too. Once she realized her costume came with a baby kangaroo she was sold. No worries! I did buy her a wand too because I knew there was no way that Claire would be able to carry a glowing wand around and her not be able to. I had the girls put their costumes on yesterday to take pictures. I knew that once we got trick or treating that it would be dusk or dark and my camera is horrible at taking pictures in low light. It turned out to be a good thing that I did because this afternoon Quinn caught some sort of stomach bug and was throwing up. I was so sad because I knew she was going to be upset that she didn't get to get dressed up. I contemplated everyone just staying home but Claire had been talking about it all day and was super excited. Claire and I left Quinn and Jared at home and went to a friends house to trick or treat. I purposely did not have Claire's costume on so Quinn wouldn't be fully aware of where we were going. Jared said she cried a little but then crawled in his lap and laid on him for over an hour. She must not feel good because she usually does not sit still very long. Claire and I had a good time with our friends and Jared and I... I mean Claire really raked in the candy! When she got home she dumped her bucket as soon as we got in the house. She didn't even wait to get on the carpet. She was allowed to eat one piece of candy...she picked a box of nerds that took her 20 minutes to eat. She is one smart girl because she picked something that would delay bedtime. I hope Quinn wakes up better tomorrow. She has some yummy treats waiting for her when she feels better. Claire doesn't know that part yet. Happy Halloween!

Pumpkin Painting

The girls had such a fun playdate with their friends this week. We painted our first, and not last, pumpkins of the season. Claire had her friends Alex and Kaitlyn while Quinn had her friends Jaycen and Mathew. The painting of the pumpkins lasted all of about 6 minutes. The kids didn't care they were off to play in a hurry. Desiree was so good she even had brownies for them to ice and decorate with Halloween colored sprinkles. A couple of plates had all of the icing gone but the brownies remained...Claire and Quinn!!! I am so grateful that my girls have good friends with good parents that raise them. We are looking forward to the next time we all get to play together.

Claire amazes me everyday with the different things she can draw. It seemed like she was just scribbling. Right now she is really into drawing circles and then coloring them in. On this day Jared was telling her what to draw and this is what she drew.

Jared helped her draw the roof of the house and the stars, that is it. (I of course wrote her name...she's not that talented.) She says that it is a picture of her family and our house and a rainbow. I am so proud!
